The BEST Cracker Barrel restaurant! I've been to several Cracker Barrel restaurants (and they all have the Breakfast all day, homestyle cookin', the cute country store, the roaring fire in the fireplace, which I adore, the reasonable prices, the parking lot, and, are often close to motel/hotels). But, Terre Haute's Cracker Barrel has convinced me that not all Cracker Barrel's are created the same! Maybe it's the quality of the service: we had 3 servers who offered to take our order. Maybe it's the quality of the food: it was the best egg sandwich, and the most amazing fried apples I've ever tasted. Maybe it was their generosity: I ordered hot tea; and, they served me 2 Twinings' tea packets and 2 packages of honey with my tea cup and saucer. The point is, folks, Terre Haute's Cracker Barrel is an example of how a restaurant should run. It's the ideal. You don't go to a restaurant just for the food, (although this food is wonderful). You go for the service and the atmosphere. And, when you find a restaurant which has all three, you give it five stars and tell everyone you know. That's what I'm doing here.

I love Cracker Barrel food, and this site is no exception. My only complaint is that the prices seem to be rising. It now costs our family of 4 almost $40 to eat breakfast here and that seems a little steep. Other than that note, the service is friendly and efficient and the food is always delicious.

Had lunch here with extended family on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Our server was fantastic and did a great job keeping up with all 8 of us. Enjoyed the pecan crusted chicken salad... Very yummy. And the blackberry cobbler was a great dessert, small but enough for 2 people to share if you just want a little bit. Always fun to walk around the country store after your meal.

I think it is always good to know the perspective of the reviewer. I'm writing this review from the perspective of someone traveling through on a road trip and my ratings are from that perspective. Our dining experience at the Cracker Barrel in Terre Haute, IN was ok. The food was very good. I had the ribs and the meat fell of the bone. Yum. The breakfast with bacon and eggs was good too. I would give the food a 4 star rating. The service was subpar. The waitress wasn't very attentive, didn't refill drinks not check in. I would rate the service part a one star.

I am generally not a fan of large chains, but I do think Cracker Barrel does some things exceptionally well; mainly, their breakfast food. Pretty much every time I'm here, regardless of time of day, I get 'Momma's pancake breakfast' with a side of hash browns. It comes with three fluffy pancakes, two eggs cooked to your preference, and a side of meat. I've tried the dinner menu items, but they just don't stack up in my opinion. In addition to the good breakfast food, I have found that the smell of Cracker Barrel when you walk through the door is always phenomenal and the southern hospitality vibe of the place is always pleasant.

Since my family and I are traveling across the country, that means long car rides and lots of fast food. We were hungry and decided to stop here to eat. My dad parked our RV and we headed inside. There was a small gift shop right past the front doors and the restaurant was to the left. There was no wait to be seated and it wasn't very crowded which was nice. Our waiter, Taylor, was quick to welcome us and get us situated. After getting us drinks and entertaining us, he let us be until we were ready to order. When we had ordered, my mom and I played a game of checkers by the big fireplace and we finished just in time for the food to arrive at our table. (5-10 minutes.) I ordered Tuesday's special, which consisted of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and one side. I got the fried apples as my side and they were amazing. They were glazed in sauce and it tasted like the filling in an apple pie. The meatloaf was really good too. It wasn't dry like most places. Sadly, we didn't save room for desert, but the new holiday pies looked yummy. I liked the food and Taylor made sure that we had everything we needed, thanks. If you are in the area, I would recommend this restaurant.

Offers a warm county atmosphere with nostalgic decore. The food is ok, not bad but not great. The prices are on the high side for the food quality. The service is usually good, and the staff is always friendly.

I had never been to a Cracker Barrel restaurant before, however we were in Terre Haute for Thanksgiving and my father-in-law's house is not really equipped for hosting a holiday dinner. Besides, all of the cooking would have been on me and unless I have my kitchen and tools, I am not taking that on. Especially not when we have been traveling for nearly a week with two small children. I tried to look up local places that were open on Thanksgiving on the internet before our trip and Cracker Barrel was the only place I could confirm. I asked my father and sister in-law to see what they could figure out since they live there, but they did not find out any more than what I already discovered. Cracker Barrel does not take reservations, so we arrived a little before 5 and put our names in for a party of eight (SIL and boyfriend were at his parent's house). They told us the wait would be about 30 minutes. They have lots of rocking chairs on the "front porch" in front of the restaurant and giant checkers to play, sadly it was much too cold to do this. We ended up wandering around their crowded (with both people and items for sale) gift shop for that time. My boys discovered their toy section and enjoyed playing, but the rest of the family was pretty bored. We were seated right about the time that they had quoted. Our waitress was pretty distracted and not very friendly. I know it was very busy at Thanksgiving dinner, but she could have tried a little harder. They had a special of turkey, ham, stuffing, mashed potato, choice of veggie and bread with a slice of pie and drink for $9.99, which is pretty cheap. However, we were informed that they were out of stuffing. WHAT!? On Thanksgiving, how were they so shortsighted as to run out of stuffing by 5pm? No. Instead they offered us another side choice. My mom, husband, oldest son and I all opted for the special even so. My FIL, Grandmother-in-law, aunt-in-law and youngest son opted for more non-traditional Thanksgiving options and after seeing their food, that might have been the way to go. The specials came out with two very small, dry slices of turkey, a small but decent tasting slice of ham, some cold potatoes with tasteless gravy, watery vegetables and my replacement for the stuffing was grits and cheese, which I normally love, but they were also watery and bland. The pie that came with the meal did not appeal to me, so I passed it along to my husband's grandmother and ordered some of thier chocolate coca-cola cake. That was also a very small portion and not very tasty. Since it came with ice cream I falsley thought it would be warm, but it was cold. Overall, I was not impressed with either the food or the service and I can not see myself willingly returning to any Cracker Barrel in the future. I will give them the benefit of the doubt that possibly they were just overwhelmed being one of the only restaurants open on Thanksgiving night, but overall it just didn't impress me in any way.

I LOVE CRACKER BARREL!!!!!!!!!! My only complaint is that they aren't in California. I was visiting family on the east coast and fell in love with the food and service. I would love to eat here every night! I don't like sweet tea, but OMG is their sweet tea good! Everything I've had here has been fantastic. PLEASE PUT IN CRACKER BARRELS IN CALIFORNIA!!!!!!

Judging by his apron, Matthew, is a newer waiter. However, he is very attentive and knows service

Don't really fit Cracker Barrel's customer demographic. It's been several years since I've eaten at one. Ate here today and was impressed. Very busy Saturday lunch crowd. Quickly seated and served. As good as the service was, it's the menu that gets special recognition. My assumption is that their customer base is the meat and potatoes crowd. But, they offer about ten side options that are fruit or vegetable. That doesn't include potato/rice starch sides. And it doesn't include deep fried stuff. Actually, they hardly offer any of the deep fried garbage that's standard menu fare at a lot of their competitors. Plus, they have a healthy fixins menu that is actually pretty healthy. Remarkable. Actually, it's pretty amazing that a casual dining joint offers this much and that it's all pretty good. I had the vegetable platter with broccoli, rice pilaf and green beans, plus turkey noodle soup. Wife had the sunrise breakfast platter. All good. This is a very well run casual dining restaurant. Enjoyed my visit.

This has been our "CROSSROADS Meeting PLACE," for many years. Here, at this intersection of I-40 & U.S.41, is a GREAT "rest stop," or "swapping passengers," place. We have family in IL, IN, OH, & KY, so it's convenient to meet in the atmosphere of beautiful flowers, in the parking area, & in the clean, relaxing atmosphere of the dining room, & shop. Our service was great, as was the food.

A friend and I eat here almost once a week because it's reliable comfort food at a pretty decent price. We also exclusively eat the chicken n dumplings. . .they are tasty, filling, and ready in about five minutes. It's hard to comment on service because we don't usually eat here at peak hours. Even still, our service has been hit-or-miss. One time, we received our food several minutes before we received our drinks, even though they were ordered at the same time. Another time, one server took our order but we never saw them again. Last time we went, we were told by a server that she'd be right with us because she "thought" we were "her table." Maybe she was just touching base, but it was a weird way to phrase it! She was a greater server after that, so I have no complaints there. We've never really experienced terrible service, but when you're dining at 4pm on a weekday that's not very surprising! Overall, I enjoy Cracker Barrel but it's still just a chain restaurant. It's consistent and the price makes it a good place to meet with friends without breaking the bank.

I love cracker barrel, it will always be our favorite restaurant & we will continue to stop at all of them when we travel. Wish i would have yelped at all the ones i have been to. They also have a wonderful store to shop at and i have bought a quite a few shirts for work in there. I work in financial. Very mature, elegant styles. Stop at Cracker Barrel, u will not be sorry. And ask for Jacob if u want the best waiter ever!
